Rylan has decided that he is old enough to brush his own teeth now. Once in awhile, I am able to help him but most of the time he wants to do it alone. I can't believe how quickly he is growing up and turning into a little man. He's been saying quite a few new words like "down", "Dak" (his name for Kojak), "Dad", "Momma" and "KiKi" which is his new name for our dog Sadie. (Don't ask me how he came up with that one.)

Rylan is growing up so quickly
Family Time at Kathryn Albertson Park

We decided awhile back that we wanted to go walk around at Kathryn Albertson Park and so I took the camera. We had a good time. I can't wait until spring so that we can go down there again and take more photos. Hopefully by then, Rylan will be running all over the place.
"Proud Daddy with his son" (I love this photo so much!)

Rylan's First Adventure with snow.
We woke up yesterday morning to quite a bit of snow. Rylan has not been able to play before so we decided that its about time to start. He was a bit annoyed at how bundled up I had him, but I didn't want him to get cold. He kept feeling the snow between his fingers and kept giving me this puzzled look. He's not real fond of cold things so it was probably a shock. We tried to build a snowman but the snow was not cooperating. Too dry to ball up so we just had a baby snow fight. Here's some more photos that you might enjoy. I hope we get some good snow so that we can go make that snowman soon...

This old toy chest
This is a toy chest that belonged to my father when he was a small boy growing up on a farm in Nebraska. In the 90's, he worked on it and made it into a clock. (Clock making was one of his favorite past times.) Inside this old chest is a piece of paper where my dad wrote about traveling with this "suitcase that probably contained toys" back in 1937. He traveled with his mother to Portland from Nebraska on a train to come out to meet his father and uncle who had moved out west to start farming. I thought about him alot lately and thought about this old chest that I have displayed on a planter shelf. I decided to take a picture of Rylan playing with it. I will have to try to take another photo one of these days when Rylan is more cooperative but none the less, the photo came out ok.
I hope that this is one of the things that I can pass on to Rylan. It's hard knowing that Rylan was not able to meet his Grandpa but maybe some of Grandpa's old things will teach Rylan what kind of man he was.
